I cannot connect another computer to my BEFSR 41 Ver. 2 Router.
I have 2 computers hooked to the router on ports 4 & 1 that are connected to the internet and working fine. When I try to plug in another computer on either ports 2&3 I get no connection. If I switch the current computers that are connected to the internet (ports 1&4) to any other port they do not connect and the 3rd computer will not connect using any of the ports. Internet Explorer message no connection. Updated to newer firmware no help.
    All PC's running Win 2K
    Cable modem
    Thanks for any info

I would think you should have made this post in the BEFSR41, BEFSR81, BEFSR11 forum...

That being said, is your problem at the physical layer or the network layer?
When you plug a device into ports 2 & 3 do the LEDs for those ports light up or not?
If not is there any chance the cables you are using are bad or the wrong type?
If they do light up can you ping the router from the problem machines? (Click Start, Run, type CMD and press enter, type PING <IP-Address-Of-You-Router> and press enter.)
If you can ping the router you'll want to check the Default Gateway & DNS settings on the problem machines. Also the options on the Advanced > Filters page of the router might be worth a look.
If you can't ping the router you'll need to make sure you have a valid IP address. (BTW how are you assigning IP addresses to your boxes? By DHCP or Statically?)

Start with that and let us know what you get.

my best advice is to get a WRT54G they are real cheap now and are worth every cent plus with firmware like hyperwrt you can incease the power of the router so id unk that old router and get a WRT54G or even the wrt54gs because they are damn good routers
