First thing you need to do is get away from Firmware 2.37, it's broken. PM me with your email address and I'll try and send beta 2.37.13; this has been a "flawless" firmware for me to run vpn tunnels and quickvpn client connections.

    WRV54G and 2.37EU

    Hello,

I just purchased a WRV54G to remotely connect to my network at home. I read a lot of things in this forum and in others but the first thing I noticed is that my screens in the routers web interface are looking different. I read a manual for QuickVPN which says that QuickVPN is setting the IP address to 10.x.x.x but this did not happen during my installation.

I uploaded the 2.37EU firmware (I live in Germany).

Here is what I want to do:

    <Internet> ---- <WRV54G gets IP from ISP> --- lokal Network (192.168.250.xxx)

I want to connect with my laptop from the internet to my local network (VNC a computer and access NAS storage).

How do I need to setup everything on the Security/VPN tab in the routers web interface???????

    Thanks in advance,
    Loennermo

    Re: WRV54G and 2.37EU

For QuickVPN you don't ;) All you need to do is create a user under Access Restrictions, VPN Client Access :)

I created a user and a password but I am unable to connect with QuickVPN :(

But there is no hint in the routers web interface about QuickVPN. I thought I read somewhere that there is a tab in the web interface for QuickVPN or called QuickVPN - I can not see this.

Again: I am using 2.37EU - what version do you recommend to use???

    Thanks,
    Loenni

There's nothing that specifically says QuickVPN, the section where you manage the QuickVPN users is labelled as VPN Client Access.

One of the later beta's, although there's a differing of opinions as to which one :) Try version 2.38 which you can download from this site :)

    Firmware

I talked to the german Linksys support phone last week.

They recommended me to install 2.37US (!!!). And they told me that it is not possible to connect with QuickVPN with a 64k dial-up connection.

I only have one broadband connection at home and tried to connect with my laptop using the dialup connect and this did not work.

Today I tried from a friends broadband connection but I did not work either.

I got the message "gateway not responding".

    Any hints for me?

Take a look at the applications loaded on your laptop and make sure you're not running two vpn clients (quickvpn will not work if another vpn client is loaded).

Take a look at the link for the "quickvpn setup guide" because a lot of things you're running into has been solved over the last year and a half.

It sounds like you might just have a configuration problem...
