Hope someone can help me as this is driving me nuts.

I've just got hold of an AG241 gateway/router and despite resetting it several times I cannot access the setup page at

Interestingly, when its powered up with nothing connected it the led's on ports 1 and 4 are solid green. When I connect my pc to either of those ports Win XP reports that 'a network cable has been disconnected'. Yet when I connect again on ports 2 or 3 Win Xp shows that it has a connection but I still can't access the gateway/router, even when I try to ping it's address it just times.

Have I got a bricked gateway?

    Many thanks :)

The AG241 (v1 at least) accepts new firmware using the same tftp procedure as WRT54GL - only for a few seconds after power up. Might be worth a try.

It's v2 model and I've just tried that method with no success  My only option left is to try accessing the routers built-in serial console. Will let you know how I get on.

Guess you've already seen this site:-

personally I would leave shorting flash chip pins as last resort - don't understand how it works and surely possible to damage the flash chip if you get it wrong!

It should be possible to interrupt the boot with serial console
