    Just bought a new WRT54GS:
    Hardware profile:

    Firmware Version:v3.37.6 , Dec 29 2004
    Boot Version:v3.4.2

    RF Status:disabled
    RF Firmware Version:v3.37.6
    RF Domain:US (channel 1~11)
    RF Channel:8

    -----Dynamic Information
    RF Mac Address:00:12:17:C9:06:0C
    LAN Mac Address:00:12:17:C9:06:0A
    WAN Mac Address:00:12:17:C9:06:0B
    Hardware Version:2.0

I use at as “Gateway†– It connected to Cable modem.
When I first install it I connected all my computers to Lan ports, I didn’t have any wireless computers, and Wireless mode was – Disabled.

Now I need to turn it on
But as soon I turn Wireless mode from “Disabled†to “Mixed†it loosing connection with Cable modem.
All internal connection are fine. I can connect my wireless laptop, all my wired computers can ping each other, but there is no external connection.

To restore connection with cable modem I have to Disable wireless and click “DHCP Renewâ€.

Does anybody ever have this kind of problem?

I just in case upgrade my WRT54GS to the latest firmware from Linksys, but it have not change anything.

Now my question is: Is it something known and could be fixed by upgrade/downgrade firmware or set some settings? Or should I return this device and ask for another one?

the little button on the back, hold it in for 10 or 12 seconds this will reset to factory defaults
why you turned off the wireless in the firstplace is beyond me.

    but it will come back.

also you will have to set up your ssid again but its no big deal.
