    I have a WRT54G with thibor firmware. Lately i've been unable to access certain websites such as netflix.com and forums.linksys.com. they simply time out.

    after plugging directly into the modem, i am able to access these websites. after i plug the router back in, i am still unable to access these sites.

    any ideas? thanks.

    You need to test dns at this point. Assuming you run windows go to a command prompt start>run>cmd <enter>. Ping linksysinfo.org you should get something that looks like:

    Pinging linksysinfo.org [67.15.158.146] with 32 bytes of data:

    Reply from 67.15.158.146: bytes=32 time=346ms TTL=53
    Reply from 67.15.158.146: bytes=32 time=270ms TTL=53
    Reply from 67.15.158.146: bytes=32 time=278ms TTL=53
    Reply from 67.15.158.146: bytes=32 time=356ms TTL=53

    Ping statistics for 67.15.158.146:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
    Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 270ms, Maximum = 356ms, Average = 312ms

    If you get the ip but no response then its not dns and we need to look at other things. However from what you are describing it sounds like a dns issue. Either way this will tell us if its dns or not.

    That's the first thing i did. I get the IP but no response from the server.

    Like i said, if i plugged directly into the modem i could access the sites fine.

    (it would be nice to update my netflix queue!!!)

    Check and see if your router is blocking any java applets...
