Can't get a wireless connection

I have had my router (WRT54G v2) a little over a year. I use a cable modem. I recently got a digital phone which meant that I got a different modem. Since then I have noticed that my connection speed on my laptop has gotten really slow. I wired my laptop and my speed came back. I then thought that maybe, somehow someone was borrowing my bandwidth so I decided to reconfigure everything. Now I get a "Little or No connectivity" notice with "windows was unable to renew your IP". I redid everything, even used the CD that came with the router and I still get the same messages. I used my PC to do the configuring and I then wired my laptop and used it but I still cannot get my laptop to connect. Any advice will be most appreciated. I am now thinking that maybe my wireless card in my laptop may have died. Thanks ronwalt
