Can't get a Wireless-N connection WAG325N

I have just installed a WAG325N wireless router and a WMP300N pci card. Both are Wireless -N capable.
Even though the router is set-up to be mixed, wide channel 40Mhz wireless network, the linksys monitor software on my PC says it is a 54Mbps 20Mhz connection. It does say wireless-N , but surely that would be a higher speed? It says it is receiving standard channel and wide channel is N/A.

I tried new firmware for router, no change. Is it the router not transmitting what it says it is, or the pci card not being able to get the wide channel and thus wireless-G instead of N.

    Thanks for any replies!
