can't get wrt54 v6 to connect to the internet

I reset my wrtg54v6. Now I can't connect to the web. Happened two days ago, and I've been on techsupportforum.com trying to get it hooked up, without success. I found this forum thanks to a Google search and figured maybe someone would see something we haven't. I can reach the router through and have set up the settings to the default, which match what I get when I run IPCONFIG /ALL in a Windows terminal. DHCP is set, and Mac address is set. But when I shut everything down and power up the modem, router and computer, it won't connect to the web.
Am I doing something (or not doing something that I am unaware of) to make it not work?

Who is is your ISP. For cable modems you have to power up the cable modem first, your router next and then your computer. You may have to clone the MAC address of your computers NIC, since some of the cable companies frown on networking. If it is a DSL you have two scenarios, if your DSL modem does the logon to our carrier, you set your WAN port to DHCP and you do not provide a user name and password. The second is where you computer was signing on the you carrier and your DSL modem is in passthrough mode, you have to set your WAN port to PPOE and put in your username and password.
