i can download and browse the web from windows and mac with no problem

is there a setting on my router thats preventing this?

    PING ( 56 data bytes
    --- ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

I’m having, what I believe to be, an identical situation whilst troubleshooting a friend’s router. I get no response from the default address of the router, but I am able to receive traffic through it. Tracert gives me “*†for all fields at the point that should register as the router’s address, but continues flawlessly afterwards; beginning at my isp.

Basically, what I’m trying to get at is that you’re probably bricked, but this could be temporary. Be sure you have set yourself up with a static IP that corresponds to the router’s range, and then try this address:

Also, do a search on this forum for “brick†for some additional helpful suggestions. Honestly though, the above didn’t work for me – it goes into failsafe mode, but responds to no pings; consequently, tftp isn’t going to work.

I'm not sure what brick means. I did a forum search on that and I don't think the router is broke. My internet works great on 2 computers. I can acces the router web utility and change settings. I just cant ping any websites or traceroute.

My comp can ping the router btw.

okay now I can traceroute all the way up to the final hop then it times out

I have not made any settings changes and still cannot ping

web surfing and downloading still work flawlessly
