Can't "turn off" wireless adapter

I sometimes use a WUSB54GC on an older system that has limited RAM that can't be increased. WUSB54GC.EXE loads and consumes RAM even when I don't have the adapter plugged in. I use Task Manager to end the process but it immediately reloads.

Can anyone tell me how to turn this off when not in use? I'll keep looking and if I find an answer I'll report back here.

Just a guess. If you use WinXP, in the run box, type "services.msc" without the quotes and see if there is a service for it. If so, double click on it and change it from Automatic to Manual or Disabled, click Apply, then stop the service and click OK. Again, this is just a guess as I have no experience with this particular adapter. Also, you may need to check your services in a different manner depending on your OS.

Yep, that works. Thanks a lot! Seems like Linksys would have built in an easier method of doing this but. . .
