    Hello Everybody

I have to change de LAN Subnet Mask of my RV042 with Firmware 1.3.6.4 (May 05 2005) to 255.255.0.0.
The Problem is, that the dropdown Box doesnt contain my Subnet just from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.255.252

    Is there any Firmware Hack?
Thanks a lot for your answer!

    I found in user guide:

"What is the maximum number of IP addresses that the Router will support?
The Router will support up to 253 IP addresses."

I thing it is a reason.

We're running a WRT54GS at work and ran into the same problem. I opened a telnet session with the router and executed the following commands:

    Code:
    nvram set lan_netmask=255.255.0.0
    nvram commit
    reboot

It works great! I have a question regarding the number a users Linksys says a router will support, though. Are they simply talking about the number of addresses the router could be setup for special services like port forwarding? I know that I can only change the last set of numbers in an IP address being configured for port forwarding. I wish I knew why they didn't make it more flexible.

    Hi

    How to confirm telnet.

    http://www.linksysinfo.org/modules....topic&t=3163&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

The following URL is inputted for confirming telnetd temporarily.

    http://192.168.1.1/sysinfo123.htm?ConsoleSimulation=1

    telnet 192.168.1.1

    Username:admin
    Password:admin

    RV042>rg_conf_set /nk/telnetd_enabled 1
    RV042>flash_commit
    RV042>reboot

    How to change subnetmask.

    RV042> rg_conf_print /dev/ixp0/static

    (static
    (ip(192.168.1.1))
    (netmask(255.255.255.0))

    RV042> rg_conf_set /dev/ixp0/static/netmask/ 255.255.0.0

    RV042> rg_conf_print /dev/ixp0/static
    (static
    (ip(192.168.1.1))
    (netmask(255.255.0.0))

    RV042>flash_commit

    DHCPservice is changed by CLI.

    telnet 192.168.1.1

    Username:admin
    Password:admin

    setup is displayed.

    RV042> rg_conf_print /dev/ixp0/dhcps/start_ip
    (start_ip(192.168.1.100))
    Returned 0

    RV042> rg_conf_print /dev/ixp0/dhcps/end_ip
    (end_ip(192.168.1.254))
    Returned 0

    RV042> rg_conf_print /dev/ixp0/dhcps/netmask
    (netmask(255.255.255.0))
    Returned 0

    setup is changed.

    RV042> rg_conf_set /dev/ixp0/dhcps/start_ip/ 192.168.2.1

    RV042> rg_conf_set /dev/ixp0/dhcps/end_ip/ 192.168.3.254

    RV042> rg_conf_set /dev/ixp0/dhcps/netmask/ 255.255.0.0

    RV042>flash_commit
    RV042>reboot

Though the setting can be changed with CLI
I am not confirming the operation.

The error goes out on the DHCP setting screen of WEBGUI when the
range of IP address is changed.

    Re: dhcp

If a subnetmask is environment larger than a 24-bit mask, I will consider that it is better to use windows 2000 server and windows 2003 server.

    Thanks.

    RV082 with subnet 255.255.0.0 ?

Linksys technical support says you cant use 255.255.0.0 subnet mask...can it be done?

I have a bunch of remote PCS in the 10.10.1.0 10.10.2.0 10.10.3.0 segments. My RV082 works great since it routes 10.10.10.x packets ..but cant route any of the segmnet packets since I figured out I cant change subnetmask to 255.255.0.0 can it be done this same way? please help
