Just went through a few days of calls with Linksys tech support. Figured out that although gateway ( can be pinged, sometimes DNS cannot ( Then internet is choppy and not usable. After unchecking "Block Anonymous Internet Requests" then network seems smoother.

Never had this issue with the unit (WRT54GL) for the past year. Just starting showing signs of this. Running latest firmware from Linksys.

    Is the unit dieing?

What exactly is "Block Anonymous Internet Requests"?

Thanks Simon. So it sounds like it is another layer of security. As per Linksys tech support, enabling this option may lead to the modem & router connection not being sustained due to DNS issues. Any ideas why this is starting now as the router (with this enabled) was running fine for about year.
