CIFS fails to mount with hostname, works with IP

Can someone explain this to me?

When I try to mount a CIFS volume with via IP address (\\192.168.0.4\router) it works fine. When I attempt the same via hostname (\\huey\router) it fails with this error:
    Code:
    Nov 8 14:04:34 tomato user.err kernel: CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed, return code = -22
I entered the machine with static DHCP now, but I'd still like to mount via hostname instead.

try with a dot to see if it works:
    \\huey.\router

Yup, it is. And I have no problems pinging it from the router. Just CIFS seems to hate hostnames ;)
