Cannot connect to my CIFS shares... Well i can and can't its really quite odd.

It says its connected but when i SSH into the router and try to do any sort of commands (mkdir ls rm touch) in the CIFS1 folder I get a error back saying "segmentation fault" and putty gets froze up. I have to restart the session to get back to the terminal.

here are the last few lines from the logs from when I can make this "crash".

It would help to mention what exact version/edition/flavor of Tomato you're running, as well as the Samba version on your Ubuntu machine.

Your latest stable version. :) (tomato-NDUSB-1.28.8748-Std)
    Samba version 3.4.0

Well, the CIFS module is not bug-free, especially in 2.4 kernel :(.
I can probably attempt to backport some additional fixes from K26 tree, but need to know what to look for...

Is that all you see in the log? No stack trace? If there's nothing else there, can you attach the serial console to get complete kernel oops output? Did the same mount work for you in previous versions (build 47 or earlier)?

Yeah that's all i see in the log. Is there another way of getting the kernel oops than the serial con? I don't have a ttl converter. And i've never tried any other version of your firmware. I Just got the router from a friend and just plopped the newest version in it.

Nah, the console is pretty much the only way...
    Let's try this:
    Code:
    echo 7 > /proc/fs/cifs/cifsFYI
after CIFS module already loaded (i.e. cifs mount is activated in Tomato), and before you try to execute any command on the cifs mount. It should cause CIFS module to output more log messages...

    I cleared messages in /var/logs/
    I rebooted the router
    I CD'd into /cifs1/
    I mkdir'd "awesomeness"
I got the return msg of "Segmentation fault"
I than typed "cd awe" and hit tab for name completion and that froze the terminal.

And I did just realized I AM running an older version of your firmware. I'm going to install tomato-ND-1.28.8748-Std as I don't have the CF mod in my router. I'll give CIFS a shot and see if it's still breaking.

Thanks for the log! When you get a chance, try adding the following option(s) to your server-side Samba configuration file ([global] section):

    host msdfs = no

    and/or

    unix extensions = no

Hey that worked! Did a mkdir touch and wget into the cifs1 dir and it worked!

Thanks a lot for the 1on1 help!
