I have tomatousb installed on my WRT54GL v1.1 router and would like to install optware which requires linux space. Since my router does not have a USB port, I was wondering if I could use a USB drive that is plugged in to a windows machine on my network and access that via CIFS on my router. CIFS shares work with no problem with my windows directories but my USB drive that is formatted with linux does not mount.

Is this possible or do I need to run a linux machine on my network and access a directory on it?

    Thank you
