    Hi,

Is there anyone here who is able to use a VPN via the Cisco VPN Client from behind a WRT54G (firmware 3.0.3.6)?

I have tried multiple adapters (linksys and Intel) in my laptop but I am not getting anywhere. It just says "Initializing the connection..." for some time and then times out with the message "System Error: Connection Manager failed to respond.".

At first I had web encryption enabled which appeared to have some kind of impact according to a post on the linksys support website. Following there suggestion or simply disabling it however did not help.

Non VPN traffic works just fine. For example I am Wirelessly connected to the internet as I am typing this post.

    Any suggestions?

    VPN Problem WRT54G

What kind of Software firewall do you have on your laptop?

Suggestion - try to turn off/disable your SW FW and see if you can make the connection w/ the VPN.

I have used Cisco, Nortel and Aventail VPN software successfully on mine with no problem, however I did have a problem with my McAfee Desktop firewall software interferring, so I had to reinstall it - solved the problem.

This problem is actually pretty common..."Initializing the connection..." for some time and then times out with the message "System Error: Connection Manager failed to respond.".

    Hi,
I'm using WRT54G, Firmware Version: v3.03.1 and Cisco VPN client Version 4.6.03.0021 and it works well. On router you have to enable IPSec Passthrough option in Wireless Security part of configuration menu. I had problen to connect but afther instalation of last version of Cisco VPN client it's fixit.

    Regards,

    Martin
