Client Mode or WDS?

    I read that setting my routers up in WDS mode will halve the speed, but did not see anything about the Client Mode. Does anyone know if setting up a WRT as a client to another WRT will have the speed like setting up a WDS between the two?

    WDS between 2 routers will not halve the bandwidth, that only comes into play with 3 or more nodes. client mode, in any case does not halve the bandwidth

    WDS will halve the Bandwidth.

    So will Client Mode halve the bandwidth? If not, then I may be better off setting it in Client Mode instead of WDS. Maybe some expert out there can write a guide as to the Pros and Cons of Client Mode vs. WDS.

    In client mode, all MUST be wired to client router. Will not halve the speed. Generally pretty good speed/connection and can take advantage of speed booster.

    WDS does not halve the speed to other AP's. The speed only becomes halved for wireless clients of WDS AP's. It becomes halved after each wireless AP hop (if that makes sense).

    WDS:

    MAIN-----100%------>WDS1 AP-------50%-------->Wireless client

    ------100%------>WDS2 AP-------50%-------->Wireless client

    So you can see that you will receive 100% signal from main wrt to the first hop/wrt. This will provide 100% signal to all WIRED clients of this AP. The signal becomes halved after each wireless hop.

    I hope this makes sense???? Been drinking!

    Basically, all wireless clients connected to the original router operate at full speed, while the speed of those connected to the WDS unit are essentially halved. This would get worse and worse if you chained routers in WDS mode together.

    Client mode wasn't implemented correctly in the Sveasoft firmware, and thus this firmware.

    At best client mode gets 80ms with a -l 60000 added to the ping command. With an official firware or related, adding wl ap 0 and wl join [your SSID], gets me 45ms

    If you could fix thisfirware modders, I'll be impressed
