i have two usb adapters usb11 ver 2.6 and Wusb54g i am using the usb11 right now and sometimes have problems think is going bad, so i bought the 54g.. but for some reason the g adapter does not connect or when it does the connection is intermintent. according to the wlan monitor i only get 1 bar for signal or around 33% signal. i bought a usb2.0 card as i think that was an issue for the power or something with the adapter. and still having same problem. i also use netstumbler and have noticed that the noise is -100 and the are a bunch of fake ap's. which i think may be interfering with my connection. is there away to get rid of those fake ap's. what i dont understand for the most part i dont have a problem with usb11 but when it gets hot i loose connection and when the connection is established it looks good..but why can i not connect at all or when i do the signal on the wusb54g is low and the speed is at 1Mbs... is there any firmware for this adapter or something. and also when i bought the adapter[fade] i noticed that the clerk rubs the box the adapter is in, over a magnetic pad, for the security strip. could this cause any problems with the adapter...

Try using your [ENTER]-key more frequently... Then somebody might read your text...

Try changing the channels. You have Netstumbler and can see the other APs. Try to stay five channels away from any access point that is not yours. If that is not possible try to be as far away as possible from the stronger APs. If your access point detects another access point on the same channel, it will temporary stop transmitting and may be the cause of your problems.

The fake AP's are MAC addresses that Netstumbler does not recognize. How many APs are around you and what channels are they on? The -100 for the noise is normal, what is your SNR and signal reading?

Are you using any type of encryption and is your SSID broadcast enabled? The WUSB54G, from reading the forums is problematic. Try using the latest driver available from Linksys. You may try to put a reflector behind the antenna of the WUSB54G to get some directionality from it and to eliminate some of the interference.
