Compatibility with WinXP x64?

Discussion in 'Cisco/Linksys Wireless Routers' started by lorenjerickson, Feb 3, 2006.

  1. Folks, I'm having some trouble getting a WinXP x64 machine to connect to a WRT54G router in wired mode. I've tried this with several different network cards and it hasn't worked. It seems like the physical connection is good. The status lights on the front of the router indicate a valid connection. However, the computer is never assigned an IP address by the router. Or at least, the computer is never aware of having been assigned an ip address. It seems like I saw one time where the DHCP client table in the router contained an entry for the computer, but from the other end there was no ip address assigned (ipconfig showed nothing).

My question is whether or not there are any known compatibility issues between the WRT54G and the WinXP x64 OS? I flashed the router with the latest updates a couple of months ago. Just wondering if anyone else is having any trouble with these? Will flashing a more recent update help at all?
