Compiling firmware for WRT54GL

    Hi all,

I have just purchased a WRT54GL router, and offcourse updated it to HyperWrt Thibor14. It seems to work perfectly, and is an excellent improvement from the original code. Thanks for the work to everyone involved. :)

Since I really have some work i should have done, i have instead started trying to rebuild the firmware from scratch. ;) I have downloaded the WRT54GL_4.30.2_1114_US and managed to compile that. It compiles (with a lot of warnings) on GCC-3.4 (GCC4 does not work) and get an nice /release/image/def_code.bin image. I did however not try to flash this and test it.

    Now first question:

On Thidor's webpage only the 13c sourcecode is available. Does anybody know if he is planning to release the 14 sourcecode?

    Second question:

I noticed there is some differences between the WRT54GSV3_v4.70.8 and the WRT54GL_v4.30.2 sourcecode. Like the removal of parental-control (artemis). I have attached the differences. Will this affect the buildprocess, or will this not be a problem?

In case somebody is wondering, these are the commands i used to build the release:

    Setup:
    Code:

    cd /usr/local/src/linksys
    ln -s WRT54GL_4.30.2_1114_US src

    cd /opt/
    sudo ln -s /usr/local/src/linksys/src/tools/brcm brcm

    export PATH=/usr/local/src/linksys/src/release/tools/:$PATH
    export PATH=/opt/brcm/hndtools-mipsel-linux/bin:/opt/brcm/hndtools-mipsel-uclibc/bin:$PATH

    Building:
    Code:

    cd /usr/local/src/linksys/src/release/src/router
    make menuconfig
    cd /usr/local/src/linksys/src/release/src/
    make

    Thanks in advance.

edit: Can't seem to attach the differences for some reason..

    Cheers,
    Kristian

Thanks Thibor. I must be quite blind to not see that on your page...

I'll come back with more information if I get it working, for you other hackers out there who want to compile your own firmwares.

    Cheers,
    Kristian

It should be on Thibor's computer. Thibor 15 hasn't even been released yet.
