Well, I am new to the WRT54G just purchased it a few days ago and I really like it. I specifically like the vpn ability. I am using Alchemy pre7 right now but wanted to know how to compile samba (if needed) for the router for a wins server or if you could direct me towards a firmware that includes one already. People can connect to my VPN but since there is no WINS server it does not list the computers in the workgroups. you can connect to a computer using \\ipaddress but thats just a pain. So my research has pointed me to that I need to use samba as a wins server. I have little experiance with linux and I noticed the source for samba is huge and cannot fit on the router to compile it (and the fact there is no make cmd). I can successfully connect to the router using SSH but I have no luck in trying to figure out how to compile this thing. Once I figure it all out I will release the whole firmware (down the road of course) which I think will benifit alot of people in my situation that want to use the vpn on this router.
