With the current problems in DDWRT V23 Beta doing a backup
    httpd crashes
    nvram corruption
    logging stops

I was wondering if there was a safe and effective way to perform a router backup and restore from shell

to get the nvrambak.tgz without the web gui you could get the backup fomr the /tmp dir using winscp.......that is the only way i could think of
to apply the nvram.bak file without the web gui you could have the nvrambak.tgz file on a server and wget it form a server to teh /tmp dir and reboot. i dont know if this method will really work....

Think in lower level terms... A web script creates the tgz file. I am talking about doing this from a shell.

What exactly is in the .tgz file?? Is it a compressed nvram -list output?? Are there Linux file system images or files in there??

It would be an easy task to do an nvram -list, dump into a file, scp off the file - if thats all it takes....

i did this before were to took the nvrambak.tgz fomr the /tmp dir. but i did that in v 16 of ddwrt i think, dont know if it will work now.
and in te nvrambak.tgz there are alot of different find of nvram varibles. like "jffs_monted=1" that is a example.
