Configuration restoration issue on WRT54G

I've been a user since tarifa009 for my WRT54G v1.0 which was purchased 2003 X'mas. The reason why I chose to use 3rd party firmware since I needed static DHCP I.P. and extra port forwarding ability.

I upgraded to Tarifa029 once it launched and it worked flawlessly with my WRT54G. I backed up my config every time when I made changes on configuration.

Today, my 35 months old WRT54G died (not bricked since not even one single LED lit up). It died in the morning when I was RDP'ing to my site from remote. I then happened to find someone selling a WRT54G v3.1 online and I picked it up right the way. From v2.2 and up, WRT54G came with a SESbuttom to provide an easy setup. Other than SESetup funuction and panel lights looked different, everything else looked to same to my v1.0 router.

I plugged the power to the new router (obviously the power adapter is different) and it's a 12V DC power supply versus 5V DC supply to my dead router. I then flashed it right the way to Tarifa029 without having problem. I then was trapped in restoring the config. It kept loading uploading the backup config on the Management page. And waited for 10 mins, I stopped it manually. This had been done twice without success. I had to config my router from sractch.

jchuit, are u aware of this? Anyone else had the same issue?

    To s202

Restoring the configuration can only be done on the same hardware model.
Different hardware models have different NVRAM images, this is the reason why loading the the config file is blocked.
