I live in China and want to escape the great fire wall. Therefor I purchased a VPN connection. When I set up a connection in XP I never have to change anything, I can just use standard settings, it is super easy and the vpn gets through the router wonderfully.

    I have firmware Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (07/22/09) std

However, I would like to set up the DD-WRT (Buffalo WHR-HP-G54) as PPTP client and that all computers inside my home network will use this same vpn. I have goolged as hell and tried very much but failed. I have following questions:

    1) After I inputted correct settings in the PPTP client and rebooted, how can I know that it works or doesn't work. IE, if DDNS settings are wrong, you can see it in the status text below but there is no such text in the vpn settings page.

    2) Remote subnet: How do I know the remote subnet. The remote IP seems to update every time I connect to my VPN using XP. Can I use ie 0.0.0.0 or 64.45.0.0

    3) I think remote subnetmask is 255.255.255.255. But when I input it and apply settings, the firmware change it to 255.255.255.0

    4) How do I know mppe encryption? Through wiki I found it could be "mppe required,no40,no56,stateless" or "mppe required,no40,no56,stateful" Does this sound possible?

    5) AFter PPTP settings are correct. Anything more I need to change to get it to work. Maybe DNS server?

Please help me by replying to some of the basic questions above. I am sure I can solve this in the end with some help.
