    Can a WRT54GS (+2 PC's) be wirelessly connected to a WAG54GS connected to ADSL ?

Nice article sounded like just what I need, but....

    - the WAG54G does not offer any repeater (or bridge mode).
    - the WRT54GS doe not offer a bridge mode either.

I have had some success with Satori 4 on WRT54GS in client mode to WAG54G, but have been possibly encountering some WAG54G lockup problems when the Satori WRT54GS is on. It would be nice to get the WRT54GS connecting wirelessly to the WAG54G using just standard Linksys firmware.

I wonder if Linksys are going to update the WRT54GS firmware to offer bridge mode as per the WRT54 ?

    wrt54g offers bridge mode?

are you saying the wrt54g offers bridge mode already? if so this is a step away from Linksys' normal trend of wireless routers only operating in AP mode

I understand and have been told by a friend who has done it, that the WRT54G, with latest firmware offers Gateway, Router and Bridge as operating modes. He has a PC and a TiVo connected to his WRT54G wirelessly connect to a WAG54G.

I bought the WRT54GS, being the latest, better model and just assumed it would offer the same. Tad disappointed to find only Gateway and Router as the only operating modes.

Anyway with Satori 4 on WRT54GS client mode is offered which does appear to work OK. Remember to 30second reset everything after firmware upgrade, then things just worked first time.

Am i correct in understanding that with satori v4 on a WRT54G you can connect to a WAG54G..?

In this case do you configure the WRT54G as any other client side adpater..? how do you go about MAC filetring does that only have to be done on the WAG54G and do i only need to allow the WRT54G mac address to access the WAG54G ort all the clients at the remote end..?

Second question (ish) do istill retain the wireless accesspoint properties at the WRT54G end..?

    Any help appreciated.

When you install Satori V4 on a WRT54GS there is now a "Client" option on the Basic setup on the Wireless tab. Set to client, enter wireless details, SSID, WEP, etc etc and it connects seamlessly to my WAG54G.

Since upgrading my WAG54G to latest firmware the WRT54GS has been continuosuly wirelessly connected to my WAG54G since 11th November, I am seeing about 36Mbs through 3 walls and patio doors into a conservatory. Not had to reboot either device since setting up.

Haven't tried MAC filtering but that will have to be done at the WAG end and I assume you just allow the WRT54GS MAC address on the WAG54G.

Nope you don't get AP properties on the WRT54GS anymore in Client mode, though the latest WAG54G firmware supports WDS and so does the WRT54GS Satori 4 so it should be possible to set both up in WDS mode at gain AP usage of the WRT54GS repeating to the WAG54G. There is a sticky post somewhere on setting either WAG54G or WRT54GS in WDS mode. Not tried as my setup works fine and I don't want to fiddle anymore.

I gave this a bash and have had mixed results. I have now got connectivity to the internet from my pc's connected via the WRT54G and the same with devices wirlessely/physically connected to the WAG54G. however I ahev no connectivity between the wired devices connected to the WRT54G and the devices connected to the WAG54G.

I have disabled DHCP on he WRT54G is this correct..? as in my mind the wired pc's on the wRT54G should be getting DHCP assignments from the wAG54g. This is also not working :)

    Any assistance welcomed.

Are you using a WDS connection on both devices or Client mode on the WRT54G?? (When setting up WDS the WRT should be in AP mode.) If you are using Client Mode, Sveasoft Satori only supports the use of one LAN port. Sveasoft Alchemy will remedy this one port limitation. Alternatively you can supposedly connect a switch to a Satori WRT54G in client mode and then connect multiple devices to the switch.

Running the WRT54G in client mode.

My apologies for grammatical error there is only one PC connected to the WRT54G at the momment. Still have issues with connectivity between the two physocally seperate LANS i.e. my PC connected to the WRT54G cannot see my wirless laptop and pc's connected to the WAG54G.
