Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

I`m trying to connect a WRT54G wireless "router" to
a speedtouch 510 modem / router to allow wireless
    connections.

Advice from another forum said I should put speedtouch into bridge mode
but there`s no option to allow PPPoA which my isp requires.

Other advice said leave both default settings alone, dhcp server running
on both the speedtouch modem and the wrt wireless "router", this didn`t
    seem to work either.

More advice, let your speedtouch do the routing, and disable routing on your WRT54G, turn it into a switch + access point.

This last option sounds more (easier for a novice) promising, this forum
has a dedicated DD-WRT section so I thought I`d give you guys a try.
The DD-WRT firmware offers an amazing ammount of options for the wrt
and I suppose the easiest solution for me would be to change to a more
novice "friendly" firmware, but I`ll give the DD a few more months before
    I give up.

Any idears, links, faqs ect would be appreciated.

Once you have the modem bridged, u use PPPoE as the connection type

You can only use PPPOE on modem or router if your ISP supports it.

The Speedtouch is supposed to be able to do half bridge or dhcp spoof, but that has its complications. It is also supposed to do a PPPOA to PPPTP bridge which seems the next best thing to PPPOE full bridge mode.

Lots of info on the Speedtouch configs over in the Aus Whirlpool forums for example:-
