Connecting WRT54G to Verizon ADSL

Just got my WRT54G, firmware version v4.00.7, dated 4/26/05.

What is the best configuration for connecting to a Verison ADSL? I now have an old Fujitsu DSL modem that I would like to replace if possible. Can the WRT54G interface directly to the the ADSL line or do I still need that old DSL modem in between?

By the way, I have fixed IP addresses.

    Thank you.

connect the modem into the WRT. I would also suggest updating the firmware to the latest.

Some Verizon DSL modems have built-in PPPoE, some do not. If your modem is old most likely it does not have PPPoE so WRT54G would have to be configured for it. In any case you would need a DSL modem. There are routers with built-in DSL modem but WRT54G is not one of them.
