Connection Drops Out

Discussion in 'Cisco/Linksys Wireless Routers' started by inquisitorneil, Sep 14, 2006.

  1. I have set up a network for a small business, to enable both wired and wireless connection to the internet.

I have two WRT54G v5 firmware 1.00.9, one for the wired network and one for the wireless network.

The wireless router (IP is connected directly to the ADSL2MUE modem( firmware 4.12-UK. The wired router ( connects to the wireless one, so that both can share the internet connection. I set it up like this so that anybody connecting to the wireless network (i.e. customers) cannot see any confidential files on the wired network.

My problem is that every day between about 11am and 2pm the internet connection drops out with the DSL light on the modem just flashing.

I have tried resetting all of the items, and powercycling but this hasnt helped.

Does anybody know why this is happening and anything else i can try?

    Thanks in advance,

Make sure you have the latest firmware and do a hard reset of both routers, also make sure to set the routers on different subnets or people can still have access to your wired net!!!

If the light on the modem begins flashing when you lose connectivity, then it sounds like an ISP issue. Unless of course the issue doesn't happen when your computer is directly connected to the modem. You might want to try that and then contact your ISP if the problem persists.

wierd that its happening consistantly every day. I would say its ISP related but do you think something could be interfering with it at this time like a fax without filter (although this should not cause the problem), can you think of anything no matter how insignificant that coincides with the drop?

I am experiencing the same issues with my WRT54G w/ the same firmware. But I noticed, unlike other linksys dsl modems, this one does not have a keep alive tab.....or is there?
