Constantly Flashing Wireless Connection Icon

I have an annoying problem that, despite extensively searching for answers, I've been unable to solve.

    First for a few specs:

    Dell Latitude D531 Notebook
    Windows XP SP3
    Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router v.6 - Firmware v.1.02.5
Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mini-card - Driver version

Several days ago, I'd lost my Internet (wireless) connection, and it took two days to figure out how to get it back. All seems to be well there.

Now the wireless connection icon, which used to light only when it seemed appropriate for it to do so, blinks on and off at a rate of about once per second.

I did try to update the driver for the Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mini-card just before this blinking began, so I rolled back the driver.

I've since tried a combination of things such as disabling the wireless connection, restarting the computer, etc.

Any ideas? Again, I don't suspect that this is anything serious, but it is annoying.

    Thank you.
