Custom Dynamic DNS update script?

I own a domain name and I was wondering if there was a script I can use to update my home PC so the DNS name will be homepc.mydomain.com?

I don't want to use any of the freebie ones since I already own a domain. I have cpanel access to change just about anything on it.

Any ideas? I tried searching, but didn't find anything that answered my question.

I use EditDNS for all of the DNS on my domain. And, if you have a dynamic IP, the latest release of Tomato incorporates a patch of mine that adds EditDNS to the DDNS configuration page (so the specified [sub]domain will always point to your router).

Do you have to have your domains hosted with them for this to work?

No, I don't even think that they offer hosting. They just provide DNS services.

Another option is to use EveryDNS, which is a free DNS service offered by the founder of OpenDNS, that many forum members already use for their DNS lookups. EveryDNS has both static DNS as well as dynamic DNS features.

I have used EveryDNS for a while now as the primary DNS of several of the domain names I own (static DNS) and also use the dynamic DNS function to point a hostname (in EveryDNS parlance: a dynamic domain) to my home IP address. If you like it, consider donating to the author: it will lift any restrictions on the number of domains (20) and records (200) that you can use with the free service.

From the same author there's another wonderful service, called DNS-O-Matic, that you can use to update various third party dynamic DNS services (including EveryDNS and your OpenDNS 'home network') all through a single call. DNS-O-Matic is fully supported by Tomato's Dynamic DNS functions.

    Take care... Koos
