custom mac address not working after reboot

I'm using the latest toastman on a netgear3500L and have just migrated here from an old buffalo.
To replicate the config as close as possible to the previous installation I've decided to duplicate the MAC addresses too.
The problem I'm finding is that after the mac change doesn't survive a router reboot.

Please see the image in attachment for before and after reboot:

The interface I seem to have problem with is eth1

Perhaps a little bug or myself doing something wrong... not sure

Others, including me, have reported this issue. For me it started around Toastman 7628 - I seem to remember 7625 worked as intended. My workaround has been to forget about this feature, and just use the actual MAC addresses. This makes replacement of routers in a WDS environment less convenient, but in the long run, less confusing.

If you really need to change the MAC address, you could set the desired nvram value in an init script.

Is this on standard (non-VLAN-GUI) builds?

I'm using 7496.2, the latest version, on routers, and 7633 on AP's. Both standard builds. To test, I just changed all MAC addresses in Advanced/MAC.asp and rebooted. They changed OK. All subsequent reboots also used the new addresses.

If this happens on the VLAN-GUI "Experimental" builds, that's rather a different issue.

Wireless MAC address change is being saved correctly across reboot in tomato-K26-1.28.7483.2MIPSR2-Toastman-RT-Std.trx on Asus RT-N16.
