    All,

I’m looking for a WRT54G VPN endpoint solution.

I have 2 befvp41 router connecting my home and work. Behind that I them 2 WRT54G router running dd-wrt. Due to the lack of new firmware, security holes and instability in the VPN router’s firmware, I would like to replace the VPN routers with the 54g router.

    Possible solutions
    1) I am hoping someone can tell me if it is possible to bridge my two networks with the current dd-wrt_vpn release.
    2) I have done extensive research on installing openswan package on dd-wrt. It seams that dd-wrt doesn’t support ipkg despite what dd-wrt’s wiki says.
    3) I have considered switching to openwrt but have had little luck with it as well. After trying to install openswan, I realized that openwrt has a limited GUI which is a problem since I’m not the only person that needs to access the router. If it’s not easy, the family doesn’t like it. Complicating matters, it seams the openswan package has “issues†after being installed. It’s not simply an install and enjoy package.

The best solution in my mind would be a setup similar to the befvp41 under dd-wrt. Setting up a tunnel between the befvp41s is easy and dd-wrt is has a nice user interface and is rich with features. I would love to see openswan in dd-wrt.

Any help would be greatly appreciate,
    Viper

I think you would get better performance with OpenVPN rather then OpenSWAN. It is already available in the DD-WRT VPN firmware. You can even set it up to bridge your networks, but I have never tried it.
