dd-wrt firmware -> independent firmware ???

    I had with my two WRT54GS V . 1.1 problems when copying bigger files -> the connection breaks permanently. I have the two exchanged into two V 4. The problem is still here. The problem with copying big files should be probably known to Linksys because this bug was fixed in the firmware 4.20.xxx.

    Therefore my question:

    Is the DD-WRT a completely independent firmware or does it base on a original Linksys firmware?

    thx

    Logon to the setup page of the web client and check the version number the firmware is based on. All third party firmware are based on original Linksys firmware. The original source is the open GPL from Linksys.

    DD-WRT was based opn Sveasofts Alchemy 5.3a however it has moved away from that to now associate itself with OpenWRT but with its own new GUI.

    there are 3 main versions of the v23Beta2 at present.

    mini - does not contain: chillispot, nocat, rflow, kaid, samba client, SNMP

    std - all features but without VOIP

    voip - all features + sipath for sip voice over ip routing

    even the mini version is feature packed.

    Would the voip version be something I'd want to use with Vonage or is QOS enough for that(I aske because I'm not sure what Sip is or if Vonage uses it)?
