DD-WRT generic vs. wrt54gs

I just flashed my Linksys WRT54GS v3 with DD-WRT v2.3 GENERIC mini firmware using the Linksys stock firmware GUI upgrade. Then, I reset the router and using the DD-WRT GUI upgrade to flash the router with the dd-wrt.v23_voip_generic.bin followed by a reset. Looks like I have successfully flashed my Linksys WRT54GS v3 with DD-WRT+VoIP v2.3 firmware (with a minor exception that the SIPatH doesn't seem to forward the audio streams correctly in the sense all calls on my WRTP54G attached to my WRT54GS v3 DD-WRT router are only 1-way audio streams).

Now that my WRT54GS v3 is running with the GENERIC DD-WRT+VoIP v2.3, I am tempted to reflash it with the dd-wrt.v23_voip_wrt54gs.bin using the the DD-WRT GUI upgrade. As I understood correctly, the GUI upgrade can only be used to flash the GENERIC DD-WRT firmware, am I right? If so, then I have to use the TFTP approach to flash the dd-wrt.v23_voip_wrt54gs.bin firmware, taking into a consideration to enable the boot_wait=on. Can anyone please confirm this?
