ok no more qos bug, what I did was upgrade to the lastest code and did a reset to firmware defaults and now httpd never dies :)

    @morpheus

wpa aes+tkip is not wpa2, as far as I know!

With my Linksys WPC54G PCMCIA Card (Broadcom driver) I have the choice between wpa-psk and wpa2-psk.

When I am choosing wpa2-psk, I can't connect to my Linksys WRT54GS!! How about you??

    bye

jffs does not work for me in the newest release of dd-wrt. does any one else have this problem, is there a fix to this
i get the error that jffs is a read-only file system

  6. BrainSlayer

    BrainSlayer Network Guru Member

select the clean jffs option and ensure that it is enabled.

about wpa2. i was introduced in the first experimental releases of prefinal5. bis is now removed again since the wireless drivers arent stable and wds wasnt working

  7. jagboy

    jagboy Network Guru Member

i cleaned jffs and enabled jffs and disabled it. i reseted the router and flashed with pre 4. and still no luck. i reseted and enabled disabled the clean jffs option, also i enabled and disabled jffs still nothing. is there anything i can do. maybe flash to another firmware then go to dd-wrt again. it is a wrt54gS v2

Did you do a hard reset (push reset button for 30 secs)?

  9. jagboy

    jagboy Network Guru Member

yes. i tried flashing to hyperwrt and reset the router for 30sec. before and after the flash. then went back to dd-wrt and check the jffs and still nothing. i get eh same error. i will try to go back to linksys firmware then try dd-wrt again.

if you're using prefinal4 you have to use the basic version on G models, since the firmware itself is to big for G systems. on prefinal5 it should work also with the full version

  12. jagboy

    jagboy Network Guru Member

i got it working. thanks brainslyer and everyone who gave suggestions/help. here is what i did

    reset everyting.

flashed with the latest linksys firmware

reset everything flashed with pre 4 checked to see if jffs was working and it was

reset nothing then flash with pre 5. and jffs is working fine now. funny thing is that the things that were originally in my jffs partition is still there.

Sorry if this message is duplicated somewhere.
The selection of a day in "reboot router scheduler" is not working and cron is activated, at least the web page don't refresh the status when I change the day of the reboot.

I found two new bugs, and one forcing me back to HyperWRT 2.0b4...

The first (minor) one is the schedule reboot function doesn't work. I set the router to reboot everyday on 05:00. However it doesn't seems to do so (The uptime and memory usage is not reset)

The second (major) problem is that I set up a FTP server in one of my computer (Wired) and port-mapped port 21 to that PC. Whenever there are upload activity (peer download) from Internet, the line speed becomes very slow. At first I suspect it is a problem of my ISP, however this problem goes away when I switched to HyperWRT. I tried to reboot the router and it's the same.

Hope this problem can be fixed...

Have you enabled CRON for this ? BS says, sheduled restart is fixed since the new pf 5 Version ...

That is not a problem of DD-WRT i think, because if you have a DSL e.g. 2000/384 and a client do FTP out of the INET the Bandwith (384) is grabbed to 100%. So, there is no chance for others (within your net) to "surf normaly" ... try to QOS your Upload Part to bulk and all things should went fine (hopefully)!

does this new firmware support incoming portforwarding with a ip option?

    example

    google.com port 23 to 23 tcp 192.168.0.2

  21. starkwong

New version should be fixed, I think...

No...Actually my line is capable to upload @ 150kb/s. When clients from Internet download files from my FTP server, they can only get ~30kb/s, and clients from Local Network cannot surf the web.

When I switched back to HyperWRT, there are clients that can download at ~100kb/s with little impact to Local Network.

So I do think this is a firmware problem.

IF i use the above commands after i reboot am I going to be able to upload a new firmware through the web interface? or does it completely erase the firmware?? (sorry new at this hehe)

this overclocking feature which was included in /etc/preinit (still inside, but outcommented) crashed some routers, so far i see only newer routers are running with it. this overclocking was the reason of a long bricking series in this forum. (recoverable)

If I put "Monday 4:30 am" the values are saved.
If I put "Tuesday 4:30 am" the values are saved.

If I put "Saturday 4:30 am" the values are saved.
If I put "All days 4:30 am" all values are saved.

¡¡The problem is SUNDAY!! I think could be that "sunday" identificator is the same as "all days" identificator internally.

I have some problem with the ssh, i checked in the sshd to be enabled, but it doesn't seem to be started. I tried to start it manually, but I cannot find the sshd command. Telnet is working, but I'd prefer ssh. There is no sshd actually, or I'm the only fool who cannot find it? :)
Another question is about the ipv6 support. I enabled it, but how could I configure it? I have my own /48 tunnel and want to use it. Should I configure it manually through telnet, or there will be a web interface for it?
    Thx for your help! :)

    Code:
    ping: recvfrom: Resource temporarily unavailable
    ping: recvfrom: Resource temporarily unavailable
    ping: recvfrom: Resource temporarily unavailable

Breaks only with Ctrl+C and then the result is displayed

mmm, I'm a bit confused about what to do next cause here's what happened to me. I was using the version from May 22 and it worked fine, I was going to wait until the final release but then my modem went down and I managed to get it back up but somehow I also had to unplug the router. Which I did.

and then the power led would flash very fast and forever while the DMZ light would flash from time to time and I don't use DMZ and the router was bricked

so after 24hrs of that I opened the router and pinged it back to life and flashed hyperwrt and all is fine now

I chose hyperwrt because it was there on my desktop, that's where I was coming from but also because people were saying that it was a lot faster than dd-wrt

I see there is tremendous work going on in dd-wrt but still my top priority for functionality is speed
the second would be not to have to unbrick the thing when I pull it off juice

I will go back to dd-wrt when those are ready because I think it has also great other functionalities which I might use

    cheers!

I think that my problem with jffs comes from the fact that I cannot clean jffs. Everytime I select Clean JFFS2, the router reboots but when I go back to Management, Clean JFFS2 is not enabled.

the clean jffs command only applies for the next boot after saving, it only needs to be cleaned once.

Just upgraded from pre5 June11 to the pre5 public release (June 23).

My WDS (Mixed mode, WEP 128, Lazy == off) link wont go greater than 1 mbps. Would normally run at 54 unless there was excessive 'B' traffic.

My 5000/400 Internet connection shows a DSL reports speed test of 2.9/150

I restored the June 11 pre5 and now show WDS link at 54 mbps and a DSL reports speed test at 4810/384

I did all the resets, etc. I think there may be some throughput problems with the public release of DD-WRT 22 - pre5 (June 23)

Edit: WRT54G V 2.2 and WRT54G V3, full version loaded, JIFFS2 enabled on gateway router, not on WDS node. SNMP enabled no other features enabled.

  61. BrainSlayer

    BrainSlayer Network Guru Member

the differences between 11 june and public release are minor. my problem is if i replace the ring kernel code with my new one, rflow crashes to router. i'll try it again for the final version and starting with v23 there will be a complete different system design which solves all the common speed problems

  62. dellsweig

    dellsweig Network Guru Member

    Brainslayer

I repeated the upgrade on my 2 WRT54G's. The same results. Wireless speed drops off to almost nothing and over-all router throughput - measured end to end - from client PC, through WDS, through internet gateway router is cut in HALF when using the June 23 pre5 build.

My throughput (both end to end and wireless) restores to normal when I fall back to the June 11 build.

    My test results are repeatable

  63. BrainSlayer

    BrainSlayer Network Guru Member

you already got my answer in my last post. if i revert the code to the old speed enhancement state, rflow will crash the router. i have to solve this problem first

You can't get Speedbooster speeds in Alchemy or DD_WRT because of a long standing bug.

The fastest wirless speed you can get is about 12mbps currently.. IF you want correct wirless speed wait till v23 or use HyperWRT.

Speedbooster will activate if you do change those settings, but it will not increase speeds.

    Hi BrainSlayer,

First off, let me thank you for your efforts to bring this firmware to the community. Your work is really appreciated!

I have been trying to get DD-WRT Pre-Final 5 (the latest build from 6/23) to work properly with my wireless laptop. It has a Broadcom wireless NIC and it supports both frame burst and AfterBurner. With HyperWRT, I get close to 3 MBps both directions. With DD-WRT, even when set to Mixed Mode and the transmission rate to Auto, the max speed I get is 1.72 MBps... is there anything else I have to change to get close to 3 MBps, or is this the top speed I can expect from DD-WRT at this point?

Thanks in advance for you help!

sure. there is something todo with the speed which is related so some bad sveasoft patches within the kernel. in the last days i was playing around with some resulting crashes out of it, starting with v23 there will be a complete new kernel inside the system. so i guess it will be much faster

in 1 or 2 weeks v22 final will be released, then a long time of v23 testversions will start. how long it takes, relates to new bugs, development of the webinterface etc.

i guess the new webinterface will be one of the biggest parts. i guess in 2 or 3 weeks the first versiony are flying around.
i got now the newest linksys sources with wpa2 support. maybe we'll get some new things in v22 too. additionally we have some nice plans for the official v22 release. so wait something different from other releases

Using the Official Pre5 version dated 23/6, UPnP is not starting at boot, it runs when the command is issued via telnet, but not when starting up. Would somebody confirm this bug?
also, memory usage is steadily rising. currently at 19 meg(GS v1.0). Using Full version but nothing extra activated yet, and bwlog v1.0 installed but mini_httpd is using very little (235k)

When you say the latest you mean the latest official (3.something) or the latest beta (4.something)?
