DDNS - External IP Address Checker & OpenVPN Client?

I have a domain name that I have point to my dynamic IP address.

Using the DDNS setup, I am able to have Tomato update the domain registrar with the new IP address whenever my home IP changes. This so far has worked really well.

Lately I started using a VPN provider and am using Tomato's OpenVPN Client feature to have my router connect to the Internet through the OpenVPN setup.

My question is -- is there a way I can have my router update the domain with the IP that I receive through my OpenVPN connection?

I tried using the External IP Address Checker but the IP that it comes up with is not the IP that I see if I go to http://whatsmyip.net or any other IP address checking websites.

I have an ASUS RT-N16 with Tomato Firmware v1.28.7503 MIPSR2Toastman-RT K26 USB VPN.

Thank you for any help anyone can provide!
