Just got my WRT54GS from Amazon.com and it's a v4 - which according to the hwsupport.txt in the latest release, is supported. However, when trying to flash from the web interface, I get the message "Upgrade are failed!". I tried the voip beta and will next try the std release. I have not yet tried tftp since I haven't found proper instructions but I will check and report back with my results.

    update:

i tried the standard distribution as opposed to the VOIP one and have some mixed results to report.

I first tried the WRT54GS specific binary but was again greeted with the "Upgrade are failed!". I then tried the generic binary and it worked perfectly. running it in client bridged mode now and i love it :D.

thank you brainslayer for a really great firmware.
    hope these bug reports help.

some linksys firmwares are blocking firmware upgrades to specific versions. thats a major problem for me too, because i have to update the firmware headers each time linksys is releasing a new version

    Horror in v4.20 official firm

    Hi,
I have the v3.1 WRT54G one with official firm v4.2. When I try to flash from the web interface with dd-wrt v23beta std (specific to WRT54G) i have "Update failed". Should i try the "generic" one?
    Thx 4 all.

I can see how this would be a problem since the different versions of the router (v1, v2...) seem to have different firmwares. Anyways, v23 is really nice - I'm really liking new interface.
