looks like this wrt is dead. i tried everything but it is not working. jtag might be the only solution but that does not look possible. i have a lot of work to do and dont think i have time to order the jtag solder the 12 pins on the board.

anyway i just bought a WRT54G v2.2 and looks good. just falshed wit dd-wrt pre3.1 very nice firmware stable too.

i have one question when you ground the pin16 shown in a previous post will i interfer with it if i touch it. or will i have to tape it down? so it will touch pin 16 and the antenna

UPDATE:I WAS GRUONGING PIN 16 AND ALL THE LEDS EXEPT THE DMZ LIGHT ALL STARTED FLASHING. BUT I WAS NOT CONNECTED TO THE WRT. IT WOULD NOT LET ME CONNECT. DOES AYNONE KNOW IF THIS IS A GOOD OR BAD THING

if you bricked your router via the "memory upgrade" then only jtag will help.

UPDATE THE WRT STARTED TO REPLY TO MY PINGS.!!!

SO I WANTED TO LOAD SOME FIRMWARE USING TFTP. THE FIRMWARE WOULD NOT LOAD. SO I UPLUGGED THE ROUTER AND PRESSED THE REST BUTTON. THE FIRMWARE WOULD STILL NOT LOAD. SO I PINGED IT AND I GOT A REQUEST TIMED OUT.

    Same problem....

    Hi there,

I have the same problem ... I guess ? When I use the firmware upgrade utility from linksys it goes to 93 % and then says " transfer cancelled" :-(

I can ping the router untill I get the "transfer cancelled" ... ?

Like pressing the reset 30 sec. and turn off the router still pressing the reset 30 sec. and then power back on ?

How do you do make a "super hard reset" ??

i mean like holding it for about 90sec
then unplug for 90 sec while still holding the reset button
while holing plug back in and hold reset for 90 sec
    then release.

sorry about not being accurate. i was on the run and had a few seconds to awnser ur question.

    what router is it.
what firmware are u trying to flash.
    how did you brick it.

I will try it! :) no problem...

it's a WRT54G v2 i'm trying to flash it with org. firmware from linksys ver. 3.03.6

how did I brick it - by flashing it with FreemanBasic v1.0.4

It was working OK 30 min - and then stopped working ... could't ping the IP ...

Now I can ping (but no webinterface) - but I get the error ... :-(

Is the "BROADCOM" chip VERY HOT on your router to ?

Dang, I just installed the v4.00.7 (or something like that) That junk caused many bugs through the web interface and my dmz light kept flashing. I unplugged it for a few min, plugged it back in only to discover that it was bricked. I coulnt access it by any means.
I had to jump pins 15-16 together, following the guide given on page 1 of this discussion.

I am now back online... Arent upgrades supposed to remove bugs?

that outta teach me a lesson, if its not broke- dont upgrade it.

Here it goes again. Well as I said earlier it started working again. I loaded Alchemy. Then went to cmd line nvram set clkfreq=220 nvram commit. received a reply nvram commit()-started

then BAM. the power light started blinking, my internet connection still works but only through LAN, WLAN is gone.
Tried all the steps to reset, pin 15 to 16, then 16 to grnd. Nada, sooooo.

should I buy the WRT54G or the GS now?
