Device list (devices) vlan1 shows on one connection type but not another

I noticed that with a cable modem connection tied to the WAN port of a WRT54GL with tomato 1.23 the device list shows vlan1 and the public IP of the cable modem.

Conversely, on a DSL connection with a bridged modem connected to the WAN port of tomato 1.23 there is NO vlan1 showing up for this device.

Is this by design, or is something not connected properly on the DSL config?
    (although the latter works perfectly)

    Thanks

I have DSL using a bridged modem to my Tomato router and I don't see vlan1 on the device list either. However there is a vlan1 tab on the last 24 hours bandwith graph and the graph looks almost similar to the eth0 and WAN (ppp0) graphs . . . (Even though I've referred to http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Tomato_Firmware#Device_List I recall reading somewhere that the WL-500 gp V2 shows up differently on the graphs)
