The WRT54GX2 is up to 6x faster and 2x better range.

The WRT54GX is up to 8x faster and 3x better range.

I do remember awhile back reading where someone said Linksys would be coming out with a more "affordable" version of the SRX MIMO technology.

A good friend of mine @ Best Buy said that they dropped the WRT54GX because they thought it was a new revision. I went to Best Buy here in Miami and when I asked they told me what I figured I would here.... "We are drones who know nothing about computers."

So I looked it up and contacted Linksys and heard from them.

This is a c/p right off of Linksys's website.

    # NEW! Wireless-G Broadband Router with SRX200 (WRT54GX2) - Up to 6X faster with up to 2X the range of typical Wireless-G products. Affordably priced.

    # Wireless-G Broadband Router with SRX (WRT54GX) - Top of the line speed and range. Up to 8X faster and 3X farther.

I have had both of them. I bought the v1 first, and I was very excited. Excellent range, no dropped connections. I bought retail. I found it online and decided to return the retail and purchase the online. I saved 50$.

I can tell you that the v1 was further range and faster speeds.

Version 2 has detachable SMA antennas, and the v1 had fixed ones.. I am dissapointed with the v2 over the v1
