    I have WRT54GL v1.1 w/ latest Linksys firmware.

What is the difference between DD-WRT, HyperWRT, EWRT, Sveasoft, and the new Tomato?

should I switch to b/c of bandwidth graphs and such and which one of the above should I choose?

    Thanx

there is documentation for all of those releases. I would look over them individually, think about what you are trying to accomplish and go with the one that best suits your needs. We could debate this one all day and at the turn of the century, we would still be arguing what is better and why.

ok, I have narrowed it down to DD-WRT and Tomato.

I know Tomato is new but would you consider switching to it and why?

Now that is a better question, I personally use Hyperwrt-thibor 15c. Why you ask, i did alot of research and for my needs it just seems to be everything i want and then some, and also I like the fact that it keeps the look and the feel of the original code.

    ifican,

so, Tomato is basically derived from Hyperwrt, right?

If you go to the root level all the code is based on linux which is the original the linksys uses. Then ever coder out there does his or her thing to massage the code to work the way they feel is the best and to give it features they would like. And to answer your question, as far as i know, yes it is.

ok, here is the real question:

what do 3rd party firmwares offer that the Linksys firmware does not offer?
or what do 3rd party firmwares have better than the Linksys firmware?

I mean why do people switch in the 1st place?
