Differing WRT54G's in WDS question

    I have a WRT54G v.2 and a v.3.
I would like bridge my routers using WDS and then encrypt this bridge using WPA. At the moment, I am only considering the Sveasoft firmwares Alchemy or Talisman.

I read on the sveasoft forum that there is a communications issue between the WRT54G v.2 and v.3 when usng Alchemy. Also, I am hesitant to use Alchemy if it is "unsupported" on the v.3.

This link is to the post about the comm issue

Has anyone used the a v.2 and a v.3 in WDS with WPA?
Can someone verify that this can be done with Talisman, Alchemy, or a non sveasoft firmware?

Thanks for helping me save time and frustration!!

I built a WDS bridge between a WRT54G and a WRT54GS with DD-WRT prefinal4. The used encryption method is WPA-PSK AES and both routers are running G-only mode.

The bridge is stable and running for days.

There is a thread in DD-WRT forum about this topic.

Thanks for the reply DevilStick. I will look into the DD-WRT firmware.

However, I am not sure that you've completely covered my concern.

Has anyone experienced communication issues between a WRT54G v.2 and a WRT54G v.3? (neither router has speedboost)

Has anyone successfully built a WRT54G v.2 to WRT54G v.3 bridge using WDS with WPA encryptions?

I would appreciate a response that addresses the v.2 and v.3 routers as those are what I already own.
