I previously had a dlink DI-524 and had no issues connecting to the WLAN with my laptop (internal intel G wireless). Since switching to the WRT54G, I have had almost no luck connecting to the router. I get good signal strength - around -20SNR next to router, -40SNR a floor away. However, I can only connect when I am right next to the router. A floor away, I show max signal strength, but windows XP just show the "waiting for network" then times out when I try to connect. Occasionally it will connect, but usually drops the connection within minutes. I've checked the signal over time with netstumbler, there is no outages or competing WLANs on the same channel. I have the same issues with the linksys bios. I've tried WEP and WPA-SPK modes, both failed. I've tried a few things to no avail - turning on/off MAC filtering, enabling frame burst, reducing frag threshold to 2304,r educing becon interval to 50 - nothing worked so far. I don't think it's a signal strength issue, but it does seem to work better closer to the router. But the SNR is very good a floor away.... and the dlink router worked fine at that distance. Any ideas? I've played with different channels, and different power outputs too. Any benifit to buying the current satori pre-release? Thanks for any input.
