Hi, I just bought a WRT54G v5 router a couple weeks ago and ever since I've had issues with intermittent hang ups with the connection(about every 3-5 mins.)

From what I've gathered from searching around the problem seems to be somewhat typical, but I haven't found any cures for it. Also, from what I've read there's no third party firmware for the v5 router. So I was wondering whether there are any "fixes" for the problem, or if I just need to bite the bullet and send this giant headache back to Newegg? Any help's appreciated.

You could try a firmware update from Linksys and see if that helps.

I had problems with my WRT54G version 5 with VoIP. I could make calls but not receive them. So I tried updating the firmware. And now I can not even make any phone calls.

So I did an RMA return to Linksys and I have my fingers, eyes, and nuts crossed hoping I get an older version from them.

Sorry for not specifying, the hang ups occur on both my computer that is wired and one I have running wirelessly.

Also: I did do the firmware upgrade, but it was no help.

Ditch it... the v5 is a piece of crap (personal experience, waiting on cash to buy another router).

Every 3-5 min suggests you have a lot of data uploading to the internet. Just a guess :)

Yeah, looks like I'll be ebaying this piece of crap because Newegg doesn't offer returns on it.
