Doubt about Web setup WRT54G: Which is the difference between "Router name" and "Host Name"? , inside of web setup, menu "setup" option "Basic setup".

The name in the "router name" responses to the command ping and the name in the "host name" doesn't respond to the same command. Which is the "host name" utility?

Comment: please sorry if my english is not very clear ;)

    greetings ;)

    you mean "question". not doubt.
Router name is simply the name of the router.

Are you trying to PING by name? if so many conditions have to be met. You've also posted this on the other dd-wrt forum, have you not?

    Let me help you here

Hostname : not all ISP has this function. Most of them still use IP. My ISP uses hostname

e.g wbb144.fwa5.jaring.my <-- thats my hostname , hostname is also known as "Reverse DNS" .. if you reverse the Hostname you will get someone's IP. You can put this field if you have a static IP (like mine) , or you can ignore it (if you have a dyn. IP or "non-hostname ISP"

Router name : Name of your router .The default will be WRT54G , you can change it to "Linksys rocks"..much like your PC Name found in Networking..you can change its up to you

I can't really understand your second question
