I've been having major uptime issues since upgrading to 1.27 as the router can't stay alive for more than 24 hours straight it seems. As far as I can tell, nobody is doing heavy downloading or even using any sort of P2P software either. I doubt it's the hardware either since I never recall it being this bad before. Would downgrading the router to a previous version alleviate this issue?

Why not try the official 1.28 beta and see if you notice the same behavior?

pharma - I could try the beta, but I would rather use a tried and true release to see if it fixes the issue.

nitr8 - I disabled bandwidth monitoring (among many other things), in the hopes that would help solve the issue. But before I did that, all 4 of us probably transferred a total of just 8-10 GB per day.

Since I'm the only one around this weekend, I might just play around with the router to see what causes it and see if I can remedy the issue. But is downgrading the router as simple as uploading an older image? Or will the current firmware do a version check and block it from happening?

What model/version router do you have?

I suggest you try the Teddy Bear Tomato ND USB Mod (there's a no-usb version if you have a WRT54GL, I am using this myself on my WRT54GL v1.1).

It's being updated by several developers, it includes various fixes and most importantly updated versions of various components used by Tomato eg: busyboxy, miniupnp and so on.

I'm running it on the WRT54GL, but I downgraded yesterday to 1.25 and so far it's running fine. Even ran a handful of Linux torrents to get a large number of connections going and max out the connection from my ISP, it ran like a champ. So for the time being I think I'll just stick with 1.25 unless I have any other issues or need more functionality from a mod.
