If you use Google Chrome browser, it does a good job of real time translation of the user interface. I have been using 1.28.0540 for the past week.

It is very unstable and useless if you are after the dual wan function.

0534 seems to be stable. I've only had it running for a few days though. I do have it set to reboot once every 24 hours though.

I use the English build 534 and I have two ADSL lines from two different ISP's.

WAN1 is a 4Mb/512Kbps line for everything and WAN2 is a 3Mbps/512Kbps line for torrents and online gaming only.

I have set only the uTorrent port and the PS3 IP to redirect to the WAN2, everything else goes to WAN1.

While its not perfect it does a good job really, the only two issues I have is that sometimes (like once every few days) the Torrent connections gets redirected to both WAN's so I get double the speed (4Mbps+3Mbps), the other issue is that when I'm only torrenting (WAN1 is idle) the router doesn't seem to maximize the WAN2 speed, the speed fluctuate between 1.5 and 3 Mbps.

Also the QoS doesn't work on WAN2 but I don't care really.

I have to agree about that WAN2 speed problem

I did a bit of hacking with the toolkit to translate 0540. To tell you the truth just using Chrome and translate was no hardship really. I tried running it for a while and have to say that marginally stable, even under little load is the way of it. It's almost as if it's intentionally broken so you'll buy his commercial product. On a recommendation I've gone back to a 1.23.0409 version that predates the current developer's shenanigans. I will post on uptime etc with this older firmware here. This is on a Buffalo -HP-G54. We'll se how it fares with torrent, netflix, and VPN all at the same time

After running overnight I have found so far so good. 1.23.0409 is still up and working properly. 1.28.0526,0532,0534 and 0540 have all crashed and locked up overnight with the same traffic.

    Any thoughts?

I do appreciate the effort you made to get the latest version translated!

I spent several weeks trying out both 1.23.0409 and 1.28.0540.
I agree that 0409 does a better job, but I accidentally fried my only ND compatible router by plugging it into the wrong power supply.
I found 1.28.0540 unstable and crashes with multiple users after a few hours.

I have since abandoned Tomato Dual-Wan, and added a Cisco RV042.
The RV works very well once properly configured.
My setup has been running >72 hours under sustained heavy load by multiple users.
Once you assign ports 443 & 80 to one Wan port, the load balancing and routing is subsequently flawless.

I've had a dual-want TPLink tl-r480+ that worked quite well. I ended up installing it at work to provide us with failover for when the TWC "business class" (ahem) hiccups. I'm trying is out software out on a spare broadcom router for grins. I can get another tplink hardware router for $50 but that lacks the DIY aspect I enjoy.

I have some suspicions the later versions of this are intentionally hobbled. I read about the "faulty" dhcp code but I have not seen that in anything but the newer versions behavior. I'll try to track down other interations of the 1.23 firmwares and try them out.

For the meantime I'm suspending the translation effort as the "current" firmware is currently totally unstable (and likely made that way) and not worth it as it is now.

Anyone have a link to the trove of older english firmware?

I have not tried the 0541 version yet. That being said all of the versions I've tried including the 1.23.0409 have all gone totally unstable/slow under any kind of load. Mind you this is on a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 @200mhz. Perhaps the 8M versions on a newer - say RT-N16 may work better but I have up and went with pfSense on an extra PC I have. It has load balancing, failover, round robin and lacp to work with.

James - if you install the firmware and use Google Chrome with translate turned on for Han simplified you can use the firmware well enough to try it.

I'd like to see these features in the current open source Tomato especially if they can be done for the new RT-N66 coming out. Maybe since there is apparently some Tomato code in the '66 firmware so hopefully we may see something in the future.

Mr. Toastman - any insight? Shibby? Vic?

Here's an interface emulator for that new router that I found:

well i installed that 541 MIPSR2-4M version seems to balance (5mb wireless static and 2 mb wireless static) load to multiple systems it dosent combine the bandwith like my old WRT54G-tm script one did with dd but i wanted n so this will do, have 3 routers in wds mode wpa aes (duelwan main and 2 toastman tomadoes) holding speeds 88 to 144 mbps spread 1/8 mile with external antennas, with aprox 11 devices connected so far its holding up fine time will tell if it will be as stable as the g dd-wrt wds system it replaced.

Sounds good so far. Maybe the MIPSR1 was the problem.

Please post that script here I'd like to look at it. Cheers!

guinessthecat, you may not be aware that the dual-wan code is based on Tomato and uses GPL code freely from all of us, but the author does not comply with GPL himself and no source code is available. Basically, it seems he is selling it commercially. So none of its code will make it into Tomato. However, things will come along that will replicate and improve on its features, as people see fit to do so.

As far as stability is concerned, it always crashes within 5 minutes on any of my systems (which have high loads). It always did, but it seems to be totally unusable now.

    Example: http://www.linksysinfo.org/index.php?threads/cstats-keeps-crashing.36206/#post-176314 :D

Happy New Year to everyone (except ZD and co.)...

BTW - RT-N66 code is already in Tomato. It should work ...

Oddly it was interest in the dual wan version that introduced me to Tomato in the first place. I was a DD-RT user and was not aware of it. I'm running a current and rock-solid Toastman build on that Buffalo right now. I thought I'd try running James44's script on it and see if it worked.
    Thanx for the reply Toastman!

I just finished translate latest version of tomato chinese dualwan (ver 1.28.0542) to english. This build works with ASUS RT-N16 routers.
I add in this firmware the programs too: wget full version, tcpdump and openwrt_cpu_bench

    Follow the link below:

FYI Asus are working on dualwan for this router, there is support for it in the GPL source-code release but not normally enabled in the firmware releases. rmerlin's builds published on Small Net Builder have it enabled.

As a user, I think what I need is an OS that can do load balancing of 2 internet, LAN-RJ45 and wireless card. This is what is lacking in microsoft win7 and ubuntu. This idea can be expanded into combining 2 or more routers internet wirelessly.

@Shibby, maybe you can start developing dualwan FW router by implementing "NETWORK LOAD BALANCE". I'm think, as starter, of using DSL and 3G modem for load balancing. I encounter a good short script for "win7 network load balance" utilizing wired lan and wireless internet by modifying metric assigned to the interface by the vbs script program running. There is percentage in the script telling when to activate second interface internet.

Guys, below script works on my win7. Script alternately using DSL internet and 3G modem. This is what we need in tomato FW to implement "DUALWAN". Here is the working script that I use:
    Filename: network.vbs
usage: command prompt with administrator right
    DOS command: cscript network.vbs
    contents as follow:
    Code:
REM replaced "wired" (3x) with primary internet name (one word)
REM replaced "Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller"
REM with "Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller"
    REM
REM Following is the script: (Save with a .vbs extension), I've marked in red the places u need to change so your script will fit your needs.
REM The 0.8 number means that at 0.8% network utilization, the script will change the adapter's metric and thus lower its priority.
    REM
REM If you just want to change the metric of your network interface from command line,
REM use this command : (run CMD as admin)
    REM
REM netsh interface ipv4 set interface "wired" metric=5

I'm using a VPN connection so even with load balancing, I'd have everything from my system going through the VPN go through only one LAN connection correct? There would be no way I would be able to be behind my VPN and still maximize both LAN's? From my testing, I haven't been able to so I may just have it wrong or it may be a technical limitation as I suspect. I believe even with the marketing showing the opposite, Connectify Dispatch would have the same limitation. Ideas?

If you can limp your way through and get your internet going, google translate built in to chrome does a pretty decent translation. That's what I did anyway.

i think i looked in every corner of the www, the only working download i found was "tomato-1_23_0409-dual_wan.trx".
and that file bricks my router anyhow. made a repair via serialPort, and tried flashing it agian, but that file gives me no chance.

don't want to use chrome translation, because i'm not the only one who use the webinterface.

So if anyone has an old EN version, for WRT54GL oder WRT310Nv1 please upload it for me again. that would be a pleasure.
can even be an old one.

A little bit off topic but if you have WRT54GL then you can just put OpenWRT, which supports Multi Wan

    ohhh... didn't know that.
I just installed it on the router. This firmware increases the CPU load A LOT: (Load: 0.50 0.45 0.36) and the web-interface is damn slow, but i'll give it a try. thank you! :)

Which OpenWRT did you install? BackFire or Kamikaze should work. Kamikaze is an older firmware but probably should work just fine. Do not install Attitude Adjustment, it's for newer models.

I installed Backfire 10.03.1. - is also working but very slow.
    would kamikaze run better?

I can't tell you what to do because I don't use OpenWRT at the moment but the last time I installed Kamikaze, I noticed GUI was working fast and I upgraded to Backfire latest version then GUI became a little bit slow. Try Kamikaze and see how you like it. Make sure not to use builds from brcm47xx, only brcm-2.4

thanks you're right. kamikaze is far faster, but there is no multiwan-support in kamikaze. so i've to stay on backfire.

You don't need english, install google translator add-on on your firefox. Click or highlight portion to translate

Does Firefox Google Translator work before you have internet access? Google chrome works fine when you do have.

    Hi

The file I sent you is as I found it. And I have never installed it to my router (Asus RT-N16). And I am not sure what router you have, also I am no expert. As is always said here do your research and USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Also ask here if anyone else has tried it and what the results where. Dont brick your router.

I have tried the following versions and have all three, but found them all to be somewhat unstable and run CPU very very high after just a few days.

    1.23.0409
    1.28.0534
    1.28.0542

I used these on an ASUS RT-N16 - If you really want them I can upload for you to experiment with.

Please do upload them. or email them. Either way. I will play around with it first since I'm used to Tomato, and then circle back to OpenWRT since that seems show MultiWAN support as well. I plan on testing with ASUS RT-N12/D1.

I would hope at least 1.28.0542 would be "good enough" for me.

    Thanks much xtacy.

I don't think there is such a thing. I think the flash is way to small on mipsr1 routers.
At least I don't have it.

I don't know what to say, I tried from my cell phone while not connected to my local router and picked it up, also asked a friend to try and he was able to grab it. What country are you trying from, I block certain IP's.

    **** Made some changes ****
    Please try now
