E3000 jumbo frame support?

From what I've read the Cisco E3000 doesn't support jumbo frames on its gigabit switch, at least when it comes with standard firmware.
However this page says the GigE switch in this model is a "Broadcom BCM53115SKFBG", which this pdf datasheet says has "9 KB jumbo frame support; wirespeed performance for all frame sizes".
But it would appear that it is the Broadcom ethernet driver that Tomato is able to use is at issue here, at least from reading this thread. However this page says the RT-N16 using the same switch hardware can use jumbo frames for LAN-LAN:
To sum up, am confused :) Can someone enlighten me on the current and likely ability of Tomato to support jumbo frames on an E3000?
It's not really a huge deal for me, but I'd like to know...

Having flashed my E3000 to the latest Victek build, it does indeed allow you to enable and set Jumbo Frames, though the GUI points out "* Not all models support these options."
Does anyone know if this works, or how to tell if it is actually working or not?

Well, if you capture with tcpdump, are the frames greater than 1500 bytes? :)

I've never used tcpdump, and all my machines run Mac OS X, though I see it's possible... just a little above my head.
I'll try to give it a go, it's not particularly urgent, am just curious....
