E3000 - Need for SNMP

Hello everyone, I know that my version of firmware does not include SNMP.

    Tomato Firmware 1.28.0000 MIPSR2-116 K26 USB Big-VPN

But the issue is that I need it, but with the E3000 there is only 8 MB of Flash. I have tried manually installing SNMP off the USB stick on my router following this guide. Only difference is that I'm not using a network share. Using USB storage.

    http://systembash.com/content/how-t...router-firmware-and-graph-traffic-with-cacti/

I have no issue playing with command line, but for some reason the service just wont start. Anyone have any tips?

Is this possible with tomato? Or should I try dd-wrt Mega?

I'd suggest ignoring that guide (specifically the "here download some random binaries that may or may not work on your router architecture or may not link correctly with existing libraries" part), and instead try using Entware. They have a net-snmp package (package name: snmpd) you can install. You might also want to look into the package called mini-snmpd which is not net-snmp but may do what you need with a significantly smaller amount of overhead.

    Code:
    root@gw:/tmp/home/root# opkg list | grep -i snmp
erlang-snmp - 4.24.2 - Erlang/OTP is a general-purpose programming language and runtime environment. Erlang has built-in support for concurrency, distribution and fault tolerance. . This Erlang/OTP package provides Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) support including a MIB compiler and tools for creating SNMP agents.

Net-SNMP is a suite of applications used to implement SNMP v1, SNMP v2c and SNMP v3 using both IPv4 and IPv6. . This package contains shared libraries, needed by other programs.

    mini-snmpd - 1.2b-7 - SNMP server for embedded systems

    nut-driver-snmp-ups - 2.6.5-2 - Multi-MIB Driver for SNMP UPS equipment

snmp-utils - 5.4.2.1-5a - Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a widely used protocol for monitoring the health and welfare of network equipment (eg. routers), computer equipment and even devices like UPSs. Net-SNMP is a suite of applications used to implement SNMP v1, SNMP v2c and SNMP v3 using both IPv4 and IPv6. . This package contains SNMP client utilities.

snmpd - 5.4.2.1-5a - Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a widely used protocol for monitoring the health and welfare of network equipment (eg. routers), computer equipment and even devices like UPSs. Net-SNMP is a suite of applications used to implement SNMP v1, SNMP v2c and SNMP v3 using both IPv4 and IPv6. . This package contains the SNMP agent, dynamically linked.

snmpd-static - 5.4.2.1-5a - Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a widely used protocol for monitoring the health and welfare of network equipment (eg. routers), computer equipment and even devices like UPSs. Net-SNMP is a suite of applications used to implement SNMP v1, SNMP v2c and SNMP v3 using both IPv4 and IPv6. . This package contains the SNMP agent, statically linked.

I cannot help past this point.

You could always go back to a version of shibby's fw that included SNMP. I think he only removed it in 116, so you could try 115 instead. Big-VPN should have SNMP in the earlier versions based on the builds.jpg

Mega-VPN 116 is also an option based on this post.
