    Hi,

I have a WRT54G and it is up to now not encrypted, because when ever I encrypt the Wireless it will not assign an IP to my Wireless card.

Can any one tell me what should I do.

By the way the same happening with the WAG54G.

when you add encryption to the wireless part of the WRT54G you also have to do the exact same thing to the wireless card.

    are you doing that?

Yes i have done that, i have tried both (WPA, and WEP) and i have but the key on the Card but it is still not assigning and IP address.

What is the firmware that is sure working fine that you have tried.

Works fine for me on a WAG54G running 1.02.5. (I'm using a Cisco 802.11b client in my IBM Thinkpad under XP2 (not with SP2 applied yet), with Wireless Network Mode set to MIXED, WEP=128 bits, WEP Default key set to #1, Authentication = Shared Key.)

Not wishing to insult your intelligence, but just to be sure we are not overlooking the obvious, I presume you are putting the Hex string from the Key field that is generated by the Passphrase (on the WAG54G) into the same Key field on the Client, i.e not the passphrase, and not in a different Key number?

I do however, strike problems when I turn on Wireless/Wireless Security/Restrict Access?permit Only (MAC addresses).
